A night at the Opera against the EU
In the "Auditorium" Principe de Vergara 146 - Madrid
This 7th January the heads of state and officials of the European Union commemorate the beginning of the Spanish presidency of the EU assisting this first concert of the year in a national auditorium. The day after Aznar will take in his hands the EU presidency from the present president of the European Commission.
This is the first of many acts that are scheduled for this year's first semester. There will be about 60 ministerial meetings, two of which will be European Councils in Barcelona and Seville, the first in March the second in June. Another one will be held in Madrid, at 27th May, and it will be a Ibero-American Summit. These meetings will be decisive in the planning of the coming EU policy towards Eastern Europe countries and Latin American ones.
